Why short snapped strands and hair falling from the root need different attention.

Look at the pattern

Breakage means a strand has snapped along its length. Shedding is hair released from the follicle. Looking at fallen hairs can offer clues, but cannot diagnose a cause.

Care for fragile lengths

Keep styling gentle and avoid tight pulling. Cosmetic products may improve manageability, but cannot explain or treat every cause of hair loss.

When to ask for help

Speak to a GP about sudden, patchy or persistent hair loss, or an uncomfortable scalp. Finding the cause is more useful than trying a series of growth products.
